Get To Know Us
“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:16-18
South Sudan is one of the most disadvantaged places in the world for healthcare. According World Health Organization (WHO), South Sudan has the highest rate for maternal death (2020 statistic) and the fifth highest rate for mortality for children under 5 years old (2023 statistic). In South Sudan, 77% of mortality and healthcare presentations are due to malaria, pneumonia, and diarrhea, all preventable diseases.
In Deed and Truth was founded in 1999 to meet spiritual and physical needs for remote communities in and around Tonj, South Sudan. We provide church plants, Christ centered community development and healthcare for the purpose of bringing transformation, healing, hope and the love of Jesus Christ. Reaching Tonj and surrounding areas for Christ is an important distinction in the work we do compared to other humanitarian organizations.
In 2023, we launched the Tonj Bible Institute to support additional pastor training and equipping as our church plants have grown to 35.
In 2023, Noah’s Place Maternal Child Healthcare Unit provided high quality medical care for 56,552 children and pregnant mothers. The largest areas of growth were the number of mothers attending the Ante Natal Clinic (ANC) and the number of births. Outpatient ANC patients increased from 9,550 in 2022 to 10,803 this year. Births increased from 653 in 2022 to 803 this year.
Our Mission Statement
In Deed and Truth Ministries is a non-profit, faith-based, Christian organization dedicated to providing spiritual and physical care to remote communities in and around Tonj in South Sudan since 1999.
In Deed and Truth Ministries has responded to the hurting South Sudanese people in these rural villages, following years of their suffering from war, famine, disease, and poverty, by providing church plants, Christ centered community development and healthcare for the purpose of bringing transformation, healing, hope and the love of Jesus Christ.
Our Vision
Our vision is to empower, educate and equip our national team/staff to impact more unreached villages and people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Serving through our Maternal Child Healthcare hospital, Community Health Evangelism program, and numerous church plants we desire to expand our services and see complete spiritual and physical transformation of these communities – relieving poverty and restoring hope, one household at a time.
